AIR-SPRINGS

Praxis multi-rate air-springs have been developed in conjunction with Firestone Industrial Products Company. The springs utilize world class rubber formulations that provide an operating range of –40 to +140 ºC. The caps and pistons are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum and are anodized to provide corrosion resistance. The internal volume of the spring and the shape of the piston have been engineered to provide spring rates that are tuned to each of the operating modes. In strut applications when applicable, springs are mounted at angle to the strut like original equipment designs. This allows the spring forces to compensate for the bending loads inherent in struts, thereby freeing suspension movement while enhancing ride quality and extending strut life.

DAMPERS

Praxis systems feature dampers (struts or shock-absorbers depending on application) that have been developed in conjunction with H&R Special Springs. Praxis dampers feature:
  • High-pressure monotube design
  • External damping adjustment (compression and rebound are adjusted simultaneously)
  • Integrated cellular polyurethane jounce bumper
  • Zinc Plating and / or powder coating to maximize corrosion resistance

AIR COMPRESSOR

An on-board, heavy-duty, oil-less air compressor supplies the compressed air for the Praxis system. The compressor is designed for long life and features die-cast aluminum components; stainless steel valves and a thermally protected motor, permanent magnet 12-volt DC motor with maximum intermittent/restart pressure of 150 psi and a maximum flow of 1.23 CFM. The compressor is mounted on rubber diaphragm-style mounts to isolate compressor vibration and noise from the passenger compartment.

AIR DRYER

For maximum system durability it is important that the air is kept free of moisture that can lead to corrosion or freezing of the valves. All Praxis systems include a maintenance free dessicant dryer that is specified to provide a dew point of -40ºC.

VALVE BLOCK

A central valve-block, controlled by the ECU, uses multiple solenoids to direct airflow to individual air-springs so that the desired ride-height and spring-rate are maintained.

STORAGE RESERVOIR

An air reservoir maintains 80-120 psi, ensuring that compressed air is immediately available for suspension motions. The air tank is coated internally and externally to resist corrosion and complies to the SAE J10 specification (150 psi rating).

HEIGHT SENSORS

An OE grade electronic height sensor is mounted at each corner of the vehicle to continuously monitor suspension position and communicate this information to the ECU.

ACCELEROMETER

A multi-axis accelerometer measures braking, acceleration and cornering forces acting on the vehicle to assure that motions caused by g-forces are not misinterpreted by the system as changes in ride-height or load. This allows the vehicle to respond appropriately to the unique conditions encountered in the motorsports environment.

ECU

A proprietary electronic control unit (ECU) monitors and interprets signals from the height-sensors, a pressure-sensor and the accelerometer. In turn, the ECU commands the valve-block to add or vent air from individual air-springs to maintain the desired ride-height and spring-rate.

WIRING HARNESS

Praxis wiring harnesses feature original-equipment style weatherproof connectors. Harnesses are supplied as fully pre-assembled, application specific components. This reduces installation to a simple plug-and-play procedure and eliminates any splicing or soldering.

MOUNTING BRACKETS

Praxis systems include application specific mounting brackets for all components. Where possible, brackets are designed to utilize existing fasteners or hole locations so that drilling is minimized or eliminated.

HARDWARE

All Praxis systems ship with a complete set of installation hardware. The hardware components are separated into job-specific packages to ease the installation process by avoiding the time consuming and confusing task of finding the correct components for the task at hand.

INSTRUCTURAL MANUAL

Praxis installation manuals are fully photographed and illustrated. Installation manuals are specific to application and break down the installation process to chapters that address individual tasks.

PACKAGING

Praxis systems typically ship in multiple boxes: front dampers/springs, rear dampers/springs, control-system/accessories. All items are individually wrapped or stabilized to avoid shipping damage.
